Watch out fashion designers, we have a rising star

This past week my nephew came up to visit and wanted to learn how to use the Yudu machine so that he could start making some of his own branded t - shirts.  It was great to see a young man with so much enthusiasm and talent.

I say we have a rising star on our hand and a new clothing line about to emerge.

Finished my no bake cake

I had to handcut and paint the bottle and glasses.  They are the same gumpaste.  The umbrella finally dried.  I just made it too big or I should have made thinner layers.  I had to tape together 3 craft sticks and add one going across the back also to hold this up and it still wants to pull a bit.

So if you want to do something heavy like this, you either need

1.  a multi layer cake and a long stick for balance
2.  thinner cuts so the weight doesn't want to pull it out of the cake.

All in all though for a small family birthday cake I am happy with the way it came out.  So was the kitty, I don't know if you can tell where I had to try to repair it in the corner by the oyster shell, but kitty got up there while no one was watching and I walked in on her taking a nibble.  Again, good thing this is for family.

YES, today is the day

Provo Craft is starting the work on getting those new Lite cartridges all set on the website and we can be expecting our downloads soon.  I just checked my Gypsy and they are not there yet, but I am so excited.

Right now I only have B is for Boy but there are more I want to get my hands on.

Here is a LINK to be able to see all of them.  I know you want them.  They are exclusive to Wal-Mart, I can see Wally World being invaded this weekend.

Too Lazy to Bake, but I can still Decorate

Too hot, too lazy to make the cake, leave it to the stores.  They charged me half price for a 1/4 sheet with just plain buttercream smooth frosted.

But we are going to be celebrating mine and my aunt's birthday down on the beach at sunset.   We love the lake and it is a must visit whenever she makes it to town, so in honor of our traditions I decided to do a little beach cake.

I used Life is a Beach and PPDU for the seashells.  All are cut from the Cricut Gumpaste.  I had some trouble with humidity in the house yesterday so the GP was being fussy, but all in all I don't think they turned out too bad.  The green chair I rolled a bit thin and it was hard to score the lines without going through so it does not look the best but we are just going to pluck them off anyhow.

I still need to hand cut a few little wine bottles to sit next to the chair.  I had cut some flip flops but they were way out of proportion to the chairs so they got feed to the dog.

I still am waiting for the beach umbrella to dry all the way also, it will be between the chairs.
I used crushed graham crackers for the sand.  Since I have never baked really before my gel colors are very limited, hence the seashells not being the correct colors.

Stuff in progress

I have a project in mind using fruit rollups but I need two full 12x12 sheets so I had to make my own.  This first batch came out too thin to cut for my project (but not to thin to enjoy eating :)  So I have another batch going.  But this is how homemade rollups look.
Sorry about all the pictures coming up first.  I still am trying to figure this blog stuff out.
Anywho:   The picture after the fruit rollup shows the gingerbread rolled out on the cake mat.  I used the box mix and followed the directions for cut out cookies (it works like a charm), after rolling out the dough I placed in the freezer for 10 minutes and then cut.  Once all the excess was removed, I left the cuts on the mat and placed back in the freezer for 5 minutes, I used a large metal spatula coated with flour to remove the cuts with ease.

Baked according to directions on the box.  I used some royal icing to assemble.  You have to get creative here and use what is handy to hold together while the icing hardens.  I used a combination of pill bottles and little boxes of rasins.

The last picture is of my edible glass that I will use on the crown for some major bling effect.

Hopefully if life does not get in the way again today, I will have these finished tonight and be able to post completed photos.  And answer any questions if you have them.

Thanks
Dawn

The New Cindy Loo cartridge

I made this little card all with the new Cindy Loo cart while waiting for the drawing time.  I really think I need to go back to kindergarten to learn how to doodle again LOL.

Although there are no layers for the doily I twisted and sized the little bird to fit over the one on the doily and then chopped off his top wing so he was no longer in flight.  And I cut a ton of little leaves to fit over the ones on the tree just to give the doily more dimension.

I do have the cut file if anyone is interested, however for some reason this file will not convert and save as a .gypsy so I had to use DS.

The Winner is post 57
